A Laid-Back Morning with the Lowman Family
There’s something so special about photographing a family right where life happens — at home. The Lowman family invited me into their cozy Winston-Salem space to capture life with their two energetic boys (both under four!) and their brand-new baby girl.
Since this was their very first professional photo shoot, they were a little nervous at first — unsure what to do, how to pose, or how their little ones would cooperate. I reassured them that the best sessions are the ones that unfold naturally — and that’s exactly what we did.
We started with something easy and fun: bubbles! It didn’t take long for the boys to light up, running and laughing as bubbles floated all around them. Soon, the camera was forgotten, and they were completely in their element.
Next, we moved to the bedroom for some family snuggles — which quickly turned into trampoline-style bed jumps (because, honestly, who can resist?). Those giggles and mid-air moments made for some of my favorite images of the day.
After all that excitement, it was time for a snack — so the Lowmans headed to the kitchen to make cookies together. Flour everywhere, sticky fingers, big smiles — it was everything you hope for in a family session. Even baby sister got to be part of the fun, tucked into her parents’ arms while her brothers proudly helped stir the dough.
By the end of the morning, we had captured it all — from the calm and cozy to the wild and playful. What started as nervousness turned into joy, laughter, and pure authenticity.
