A Retro Dream with Brent & Brittany
Every once in a while, a photoshoot turns into an adventure — and this one with Brent and Brittany definitely did.
I had this vision of creating a cinematic, retro-inspired session: something that felt like it could have come straight out of a 1980s movie. The only thing missing? A vintage car to tie it all together.
The Car That Found Us
Here’s the funny part — I didn’t have a vintage car lined up. So, in true creative fashion, I took to Facebook Marketplace and found someone selling an old Volvo that fit the vibe perfectly.
Without overthinking it, I messaged the seller and asked if he’d consider renting it to us for an hour or two for a photoshoot. I fully expected him to say no… but to my surprise, he said yes! He even agreed to meet us at the trailhead in Norco, California, right before sunset.
When he pulled up with that beautiful retro Volvo, it felt like everything clicked into place.
Golden Light, Retro Vibes
Brent and Brittany arrived looking amazing — totally channeling the vintage aesthetic with their outfits and energy. As the sun began to dip behind the hills, the light turned golden and dreamy, giving us that perfect nostalgic glow.
We shot around the trailhead, using the Volvo as both a backdrop and a prop, and the results were pure magic — cinematic, moody, and timeless all at once. Their chemistry, laughter, and willingness to lean into the creative vision brought the whole concept to life.
Why I Love Shoots Like This
This session reminded me how creativity thrives when you just go for it. Sometimes it’s about chasing a wild idea, sending that unexpected message, or trusting the light will be perfect — and it usually pays off.
Brent and Brittany made this shoot unforgettable. From the spontaneous car rental to the perfect sunset, it all came together in a way that couldn’t have been planned better.
